People walking, bike riders, motorcyclists and some other road users are more at risk on the road as they have less protection than people in vehicles.
This means you should always take extra care, look around your driving environment and slow down around them.
Everyone has a role to play in keeping themselves and others safe on the road.
Everyone makes mistakes
So we all need to play our part in keeping our roads safe, whether you’re a walker, bike rider, motorcyclist, driver or other road user.
Ways to share the road safely
You can:
- Create a safety bubble.
- Slow down near people walking, bike riders and motorcyclists.
- Keep intersections clear.
- Drive at a suitable speed for the conditions you’re in.
- Create as much space as possible from bike riders and motorcyclists when passing.
- Give way when required.
- Signal the direction you’re going.
- Don’t cut other vehicles off.
